Music Ministry

Mt. Gilead Baptist Church offers a robust music ministry with a diversity of traditional hymns and contemporary praise and worship. Our ministry offers congregational hymns, Praise and worship , and specials sung by the Choir, Individuals or Groups and Praise Teams. The most important is, that music is not for entertainment but rather to lift our voices loud unto the Lord in praise and doing so with instruments of music.

Music may stir the heart or provoke a yearning for worship. Our music program is still growing and with it grows joy. Mt. Gilead is a wonderful place for worship and everyone is invited to come and be with us.

Many references are made in the Holy Word and is sound for the ministry in music. One passage of scripture below from 2 Chronicles is a good guide to start with.

2 Chronicles 5:13-14 KJV

[13]It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; [14] So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.

Colossians 3:16-17 KJV [16] Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. [17] And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
